The concept of apprenticeships being meant for college and senior students is now a bit obsolete; highschoolers, both in their senior and junior years are now supported, boosted and bolstered towards high school apprenticeships. This is because high school apprenticeships help them decide much better as to what theyâd like to do take up as the most suitable career path, giving them an overview of the real-world scenario and practices before they enter college. Besides, students also learn grassroot level workplace practices this way.

Why are High School Apprenticeships Soaring like a Bubble? Contrary to college students, where the main agenda during any apprenticeship is to earn and to gain experience for a smooth transitioning into the industry, the practice for high school apprenticeship programs is meant to facilitate a better understanding of the job role that a student is considering. High schoolers are able to cross check if this particular job role is truly a passion or just a temporary fascination and they need to reconsider other career options. This is one of the major reasons behind the rapid growth, acceleration and popularity of high school apprenticeships these days â high schoolers are now investigating genres of study and in-sighting into job paths that are years away.

Another major reason why high school apprenticeships are so much in these days is that they let these students break the ice from being a school goer to become someone who has experience of real life mature and live business scenarios. High schoolers are exposed to tough and resilient conditions in terms of emotional and physical endurance (often a mix of both), depending upon what theyâve chosen as their high school apprenticeship program.

The Industry Outlook Towards High School Apprenticeships The industry too gets prepared for welcoming them in a few years, sometimes some very rare and outstanding candidates are offered provisional placements too! Further, statistics show that students who take up high school apprenticeship programs perform much better when they actually, full-time, fit the shoes of that job description as compared to their counterparts who do not undergo any such training. The first category is deemed much more responsible and mature by industry experts, and so they prefer them during final training and placement scenarios. They believe that such pre-exposed talent (of students undergone high school apprenticeships) have a better probability to succeed in office environments.

The Ground Reality Even though high school apprenticeships are fast picking up, as per data from American Student Assistance, the number of students who take up such apprenticeships programs was still very low in 2021 â only about 2% of the total opting in. This has in-turn made the potential employment of this category very high, about 70% of them received future job offers during the apprenticeship itself. What more can a high schooler as for!
